Knowing I was spending my regular Wednesday afternoon at Hunters Court Stables, a blogless friend sent me this beautiful picture of a horse galloping on a beach with moon and rainbow. Attached also was the above quote, which generated much food for thought!
My 6 year old granddaughter, Allie, started twice weekly lessons in January and will compete in her 2nd show on May 19th. Last month she got 2nd and 5th place ribbons in her first show and has gotten the "fever". The great thing about Hunters Court Stables, is that not only do they teach riding, but also care of the horse and tack. Allie's favorite part is picking the dirt (etc.) out of her horse's hooves (so much for being a girly girl!).
Allie never met an animal she didn't love, but no one comes between her and her horses! It has been amazing to see the growth in her confidence and self esteem (and she was no slacker before!). Also to see someone so young, so focused. When riding, I'm not sure she's even aware of anyone other than her horse and her teacher and what they are doing. Great life lessons...Thanks Ms. Evelyn and Ms. Carla.
Another interesting thing I've noticed is that 99.9% of the riders are girls/women. The guys sure are missing out!
